USA Archery Level 1 Instructor Certification in Arizona – April 2026 Recap

Archery by Eleanor recently hosted its first USA Archery Level 1 Instructor Certification in Arizona, successfully certifying five new archery instructors in April 2026.

This six-hour, in-person practical course was designed to fully prepare new instructors to safely teach archery in a variety of settings, including youth programs, summer camps, homeschool groups, church organizations, and beginner archery classes.

As a USA Archery certified course, the training followed official standards while also incorporating real-world coaching experience to ensure each participant left confident and ready to lead.

What’s Included in a USA Archery Level 1 Certification Course

During this 6-hour hands-on archery instructor training, participants completed all required practical components while gaining deeper insight into how to run a successful program.

Range Setup and Archery Safety

Instructors learned how to properly set up an archery range, establish shooting lines, and enforce critical archery safety rules to maintain a controlled and secure environment.

Equipment Knowledge and Maintenance

We covered the fundamentals of archery equipment, including bow and arrow setup, proper usage, and maintenance techniques to keep equipment safe and functional.

How to Teach Archery (Coaching Methods)

A major focus of the course was effective coaching and communication, including:

  • How to explain skills clearly to beginners

  • How to manage groups of students

  • How to create a positive and structured learning environment

Teaching Kids and Beginner Archers

Because many instructors plan to work with youth, we emphasized:

  • Coaching children in archery programs

  • Managing attention, safety, and engagement

  • Structuring lessons for camps, homeschool groups, and beginner classes

Real-World Scenarios and Problem Solving

Participants were trained on common situations instructors face, including:

  • Handling group dynamics

  • Answering frequently asked questions

  • Maintaining control of the range environment

Archery Form and Technique

We broke down proper shooting form, allowing instructors to both perform and teach foundational technique correctly. We also covered safe and efficient arrow pulling.

Mock Teaching Sessions

To build confidence, participants engaged in mock teaching exercises, practicing how to run a class and receiving feedback in real time.
