Why Archery is the Perfect Group Event in Chandler, AZ

When you think “group event,” you might picture dinner, a cocktail mixer, maybe a trivia night. But what if your group could walk away not only having fun, but also feeling more confident, connected, and inspired? That’s exactly what happened when I recently hosted a women’s networking group for a private archery event here in Chandler, Arizona.

A Unique Way to Connect

We had 35 women attend — all from different industries, backgrounds, and stages of life. Instead of jumping straight into the archery, we began with something a little different: goal setting. Since the event took place halfway through the year, I asked each participant to set a personal goal they wanted to achieve before year’s end. We discussed what success would look like for them once they accomplished it, then they wrote it down to keep in mind during the session.

From First Arrow to Full Confidence

With snacks and cold water on hand, we got started on the range. I walked everyone through the basics: range safety, proper stance, and how to draw and release an arrow. One by one, they stepped up to shoot their first arrow — and with each round, the confidence in the group grew. Laughter, cheers, and a few surprised “I actually hit it!” moments filled the air.

Shooting for Their Goals

Once everyone was comfortable, I brought out a new challenge: balloons. Each participant was given one and told to imagine it as their personal goal. The mission? Hit your balloon. Hit your goal.

The energy on the range changed instantly — focus sharpened, encouragement between participants grew, and when a balloon popped, the celebration was as much for the metaphor as the shot.

More Than Just Archery

By the end of the session, people weren’t just leaving with new archery skills — they left with new friends, fresh motivation, and a memorable story to tell.

Archery events like this work for so many occasions:

  • Networking groups looking to build deeper connections

  • Corporate teams wanting something beyond the usual team-building exercises

  • Bachelorette parties searching for a unique, unforgettable activity

  • Birthday celebrations that go beyond dinner and cake

Why Groups Love It

  • It’s inclusive – No experience or athletic background required

  • It’s interactive – Everyone gets personal coaching

  • It’s memorable – Shooting a bow is something people remember for years

  • It’s symbolic – Goal setting + hitting the target resonates on and off the range
